Chinese President has officially opened the 55km world’s longest sea crossing bridge.

Chinese President has officially opened the 55km world’s longest sea crossing bridge. The sixth longest bridge on earth took nine years to complete.
The new bridge connects Hong Kong to Macau and the mainland Chinese city of Zhuhai.
It will cut travelling time between Zhuhai and Hong Kong from about four hours to just 30 minutes.

Part of the total crossing consists of a 30km bridge that crosses the sea. A 6.7km underwater tunnel also runs between two artificial islands to allow large cargo ship containers to pass through.
To put the length of the bridge into perspective, the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos (the second longest bridge in Africa) has a total length of 11.8 km.
For now, only private transports that has special permits will be allowed on the bridge. Hong Kong residents will also need special permits to access the toll paying bridge .
China also boasts of the World’s Highest Bridge ,the ₦52billion 1.34 km bridge between Xuanwei city and Shuicheng county, that is as tall as a 200-storey-building.

Gionee Facing Financial Woes In China, Considering Filing For Bankruptcy

Gionee Facing Financial Woes In China, Considering Filing For Bankruptcy
A few years ago Gionee was a strong force to reckon with in the Nigerian mobile sector and for a really long time we haven’t heard from them , no new devices, nothing at all . The big question on our minds is :
What Really Happened To Gionee Mobile?
Gionee has been facing a tough time over the past few months and is almost on the verge of bankruptcy.
The company has been facing financial woes in China, and if the latest report is to be believed, Gionee is considering filing for bankruptcy. There is also a possibility of liquidation after the company failed to pay financial creditors, marketing firms and about 400 suppliers.
According to reports from Beijing Youth daily, Gionee is on the verge of bankruptcy after owning money to financial institutions, suppliers, advertising and marketing agencies. Gionee currently owes $2.45 billion. And the chairman of Gionee “Liu”, had earlier lost CNY1 billion while gambling with the company assets.
Gionee, which ranked behind Apple in sixth place for handset sales in China last year, is now on the verge of bankruptcy restructuring as suppliers have halted component sales after failing to receive payments for several months, according to the report.
Liu admitted in the interview that Gionee’s total debts amount to 17 billion yuan($2,447,065,000), with 10 billion yuan($1,439,450,000) of this owed to banks, 5 billion yuan($719,725,000) to upstream suppliers and about 2 billion to advertising agencies.
If restructuring is not a viable option, Gionee will go into liquidation. This probably is the reason why you haven’t been seeing new devices from the company lately.

Qualcomm claims it has won an injunction against Apple that effectively bans the import and sale of a number of iPhone models, ranging from the iPhone 6S to the iPhone

US chip-maker Qualcomm claims it has won an injunction against Apple that effectively bans the import and sale of a number of iPhone models, ranging from the iPhone 6S to the iPhone X.
The preliminary order, issued by a Chinese court, is the latest in step a continuing feud between the two tech giants over intellectual property.

However, Apple says all of its iPhone models remain on sale in the country.
The disputed patents relate to software rather than hardware.
The injunction affects devices running older versions of Apple’s iOS operating system and not those running the latest version, iOS 12.
The court found Apple had violated two of Qualcomm’s patents – one regarding photograph resizing and the other related to how apps are managed on a touch screen.

“Apple continues to benefit from our intellectual property while refusing to compensate us,” said Don Rosenberg, general counsel of Qualcomm.
However, Apple responded that the attempted ban was “another desperate move by a company whose illegal practices are under investigation by regulators around the world”.

The decision has successfully prohibited all importation and sales of iPhone smartphones such as the iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus and X in China

Following the long and harsh fight in court between Apple and Qualcomm, the Fuzhou Intermediate People’s Court in China court ruled in favor of Qualcomm. This decision is regarding two patent infringement claims by Qualcomm, a US chipmaker. The decision has successfully prohibited all importation and sales of iPhone smartphones such as the iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus and X in China. As you probably are aware, this decision is a big blow to Apple since China is the world’s biggest phone market.
Anyway Apple has promised to appeal the judgment. The relationship between the two organizations has damaged beyond repair as both tech mammoths are at loggerheads over licensing rates Qualcomm and other wireless intellectual property (IP) holders charge smartphone OEMs for use of their standard essential patents (SEPs).
This implies Apple infringed two Qualcomm licenses identified with resizing photographs and arranging applications. General counsel for Qualcomm Don Rosenberg told Reuters in an announcement “Apple continues to benefit from our intellectual property while refusing to compensate us.”
However, reacting to the judgement, Apple says
“Qualcomm’s effort to ban our products is another desperate move by a company whose illegal practices are under investigation by regulators around the world,” Apple said in a statement to CNBC. “All iPhone models remain available for our customers in China. Qualcomm is asserting three patents they had never raised before, including one which has already been invalidated. We will pursue all our legal options through the courts.”
How Qualcomm is also fighting to block the sales of the iPhone 6S, 6S Plus, 7, 7 Plus, 8, 8 Plus and X in the United States and a final judgement is expected in January next year.

My phone at the bank

MY PHONE AT THE BANK
I went to bank this afternoon after solatul jumu'ah to complain about an update on my account i did last month that nothing has reflected on my account.
I went to bank last month to update my account with my national ID card but unfortunately, I registered with two name with them and I have three name on my national ID card which made it futile. I was directed to do a newspaper publication on change of name with an affidavit on change of name which I presented everything for them last month ending.
I logged a complain today on it with all the needed documents with me. After long waiting on the queue, I was answered to. As if I had known before, their customer care line asked for the documents again, and I presented it to her. She asked for the photocopies of the documents, I asked her for their photocopy machine and she replied me that it is faulty that I should go and do it outside.
In an hurry, I forgetfully left my phone on her desk. I checked the time, it was already 15:48 I quickly rushed down to do the photocopies. When I was returning from where I went to do photocopies I remembered that I have forget my phone at the bank. I assured myself that I will surely get it when I get to the bank.
I returned to the bank in the hope of finding my phone on the customer care desk which was not. I quickly changed my mind that maybe I left it at where I do the photocopies and when I finished with what I am doing in the bank I will go there.
I was afraid of accusing anybody with stealing of phone at the bank. I wanted to inform the security man that's near the desk but I wanted to finished what I came for first.
Although, the woman I left before I went for the photocopy was still at the sit, attended to by the customer care. I refused not to asked her, for not to count it as an embarrassment(especially since she is a woman and as a nature of women). I was thinking of borrowing phone to call it, but I refused because most people will think otherwise
No so long, as many things coming across to my mind. By Allah's glory, I heard ringing of phone from that woman's purse. I quickly challenged her to pick the call to know whether it is my phone since I am also using infinix ringing tone. She opened her purse and brought my phone out, it was airtel that called.
I collected my phone while one girl was watching the whole scene. I noticed that she wanted to talk when that woman gave me the phone. But after that woman left she started to talk and the security man accused me of not telling him to disgrace that woman uselessly with all her big girl.
After that, everybody started to saying different things in accusing that woman of theft.
